How We Test: Our Workshop Lab Protocol

At TrackSawHQ, we do not rewrite manufacturer press releases. Every plunge cut saw featured on this site goes through rigorous, standardized bench testing on cabinet-grade materials.

1 Cut Squareness & Rail Parallelism

We make 96-inch rip cuts across 3/4" Baltic Birch plywood using a certified Starrett precision square and digital calipers to check kerf taper from entry to exit. Any deflection exceeding 0.5mm across an 8-foot run is heavily penalized.

2 Tear-Out & Splinter Resistance

We test crosscuts on fragile pre-finished cherry and walnut veneer. We evaluate both the waste side and the keep side under 50x magnification to check for micro-chipping along the blade entry and exit teeth.

3 Dust Extraction Capture Efficiency

Using a calibrated HEPA shop extractor running at 135 CFM, we weigh the particulate collection canister before and after ripping 100 linear feet of MDF. True professional saws like the Festool TS 55 and Makita SP6000 capture over 92% of airborne dust.

4 Affiliate Integrity & Independence

We purchase tools directly through commercial channels. When you click through our links to Amazon, we receive a small commission that funds our workshop blades, sheet goods, and lab time. We never accept sponsored ranking placement from manufacturers.
